Autism-friendly play hour
A quiet hour at the play gym (Fizzy Lizard) has now been put in place. The details are as in the email below and on the posters attached, it’s Mondays 9-10. Please contact Naomi Klein (firstname.lastname@example.org) for any further info. Check out http://fizzylizard.co.uk/
My name is Naomi Klein, I have graduated from Huddersfield University after studying Early Years. Within my course I uncovered lots of information for children with special educational needs and disabilities. Now being employed at a management level I find myself working in a play gym based in Huddersfield. I and my manager are currently thinking of putting together a ‘quiet morning’ hour that is inclusive to all but geared more to those who have sensory sensitivities such as children with autism. I am writing to you, to see whether you would be able to help put us access those within the community who have a need for this or point us in the correct direction for a support group we could target whom this would be beneficial for. Our play facilities are for children aged 0 to 8 years of age. The way we see this working would be to open at 9am and have dimmed lighting, no tannoy announcements, no music and a provide a ‘chill zone’ in a room adjacent to the play gym for those needing time out. Thank you for your time and I look forward to hopefully hearing from you.
